Professional cleaning can remove old, loose or contaminated jointing material from between paving, leaving the joints partially empty once the surface has dried.
Norden Exterior Cleaning provides professional re-sanding and jointing services throughout Norden, Rochdale and surrounding areas. Depending on the paving type and joint dimensions, customers can choose between traditional kiln-dried sand or a premium ProJoint TITAN epoxy jointing system.
Every surface is inspected before work begins so that we can recommend the most appropriate option for the paving, joints and existing installation.
Complete the Finish After Cleaning
Re-sanding or repointing is an important final stage when restoring suitable block-paved driveways, paths, patios and paved areas.
Our jointing services can help:
- Refill empty or depleted paving joints
- Replace material removed during cleaning
- Improve the finished appearance
- Reduce open gaps between paving
- Help support the position of suitable paving blocks
- Create a neater and more complete result
- Provide a choice of standard or premium jointing options
Re-sanding and jointing cannot correct sunken paving, broken blocks, movement or a failed foundation. Any visible concerns will be discussed before work begins.
Suitable Paved Areas
Our re-sanding and jointing services may be suitable for:
- Block-paved driveways
- Block-paved paths
- Paved entrances
- Patios Courtyards
- Concrete paving
- Natural stone paving
- Paving slabs and setts
- Suitable pedestrian and vehicle areas
The correct jointing material depends on the paving type, joint width, joint depth, condition and intended use of the area.
We will assess the surface and explain which options are suitable before providing your quotation.

Choose Your Jointing Option
Traditional Kiln-Dried Sand
Kiln-dried sand is the traditional option for standard block-paved driveways, paths and parking areas.
Once the paving has been professionally cleaned and allowed to dry thoroughly, suitable kiln-dried sand is spread across the surface and brushed into the joints.
This option can help:
- Replace sand removed during cleaning
- Refill suitable narrow block-paving joints
- Improve the completed appearance
- Support the position of the paving blocks
- Provide a cost-effective finish after cleaning
Some settlement may occur after rain and regular vehicle or foot traffic. Occasional topping-up may therefore be required.
For suitable natural stone and concrete paving, slabs and setts, customers can choose ProJoint TITAN as a premium alternative to traditional jointing materials.
ProJoint TITAN is a high-strength, two-part epoxy paving grout. It is permeable and, once fully cured, is designed to resist frost, weed growth and careful pressure washing. It is suitable for joints measuring at least 5mm wide and 25mm deep.
This premium option can provide:
- A stronger and more durable joint
- A professional finished appearance
- Resistance to frost and weed growth
- Resistance to careful pressure washing once fully cured
- A permeable joint that allows water to pass through
- An option for suitable patios, paths and vehicle areas
ProJoint TITAN is not suitable for every block-paved surface. Standard block paving often has narrow joints, while TITAN requires wider, deeper joints. It is also not suitable for porcelain paving. Suitability will therefore be confirmed following an inspection.
Important ProJoint TITAN information
ProJoint TITAN can temporarily darken or enhance the colour and texture of natural stone and concrete paving because of the epoxy resin film left during application. This effect can be particularly noticeable on grey paving, so a test area may be recommended before the full installation. The effect normally fades through weathering and use.
Before choosing this option, we will discuss:
- The paving material
- The width and depth of the joints
- The condition of the existing installation
- Whether old jointing material must be removed
- The possible temporary colour-enhancing effect
- Weather and curing requirements
- The additional material and installation cost
ProJoint TITAN is quoted separately as a premium upgrade.

Our Re-sanding and Jointing Process
Every paved area is different, but the typical process includes:
- Initial assessment
- We inspect the paving material, existing joints, surface condition, drainage and surrounding areas.
- We will determine whether the surface is suitable for kiln-dried sand, ProJoint TITAN or another appropriate jointing solution.
- Professional cleaning
- Where required, the paving is professionally cleaned to remove dirt, grime, algae, moss, weeds and loose jointing material.
- Joint preparation
- Loose debris and unsuitable existing material are removed where necessary.
- The joints are checked to ensure they have the appropriate width, depth and condition for the selected product.
- Drying or surface preparation
- Kiln-dried sand requires the paving and joints to be thoroughly dry.
- ProJoint TITAN has its own preparation and installation requirements, which will be followed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Jointing material application
- The selected material is carefully applied across the paved area and worked into the joints.
- Final inspection
- The joints and paving surface are checked, excess material is removed where appropriate and the completed area is inspected.
Weather and Surface Conditions
Suitable weather conditions are essential for achieving a professional result.
Kiln-dried sand cannot be applied effectively while the blocks or joints remain damp. Cleaning and re-sanding may therefore need to take place on separate days.
Work may need to be postponed when:
- Rain is forecast
- The paving remains wet
- Water is trapped within the joints
- Temperatures are unsuitable
- The surface has not dried sufficiently
- Conditions would affect installation or curing
Where a return visit is required, this will be explained as part of your quotation.
Which Option Is Right for My Paving?
Kiln-dried sand is generally the most appropriate choice for standard block paving with narrow joints.
ProJoint TITAN may be considered for suitable natural stone or concrete paving, slabs and setts with joints measuring at least 5mm wide and 25mm deep.
The most suitable option will depend on:
- Your paving material
- Joint width and depth
- Existing surface condition
- Previous jointing products
- Vehicle or pedestrian use
- Your preferred finished appearance
- Your available budget
We will assess the area and explain the available options clearly before any work is agreed.
Cleaning and Jointing Package
Block paving re-sanding and premium jointing are usually provided alongside our driveway, patio, path and paving cleaning services.
The area is professionally cleaned before the joints are prepared and refilled using the agreed material.
Cleaning and jointing are quoted according to:
- The size of the area
- The paving type
- The condition of the joints
- The amount of preparation required
- Access to the property
- The chosen jointing product
For the most accurate quotation, send us your postcode, approximate area size and several clear photographs.
